Cultural Diversity and African-American Heritage Celebrated at the Gullah Festival in Historic S.C.
One Sound and Entertainment shows its commitment to social responsibility by partnering with the organizers of the annual Gullah Festival held in South Carolina's historic Hilton Head, to provide an educational and entertaining weekend for patrons.
STONE MOUNTAIN, GA, August 10, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In order to know where we are going, we have to know where we came from. The Gullah Festival of South Carolina (http://www.gullahfestival.org/) celebrates and recognizes the history, customs, cultures, language and accomplishments of the African Americans of the low-country. The Low Country Gullah culture is a blend of West African, European, and Native American cultures, which became a way of life for West African slaves living off the coast of the South Carolina mainland.
The annual event attracts talent from the local, national, and even international levels. The festival showcases acts that to appeal to every taste, including art and history exhibits, jazz, storytelling, music, arts and crafts, and theater. And One Sound and Entertainment (http://onesoundandent.com/) was honored to deejay and MC the festivities. Performers like the Manhattans and Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes, Angel of Fellowship Dance Ministry, Little Sonny & The Peacemakers, East of the River Boys & Girls Steel Band, and Yoruba Drummers and Dancers topped the itinerary for the weekend. In the spirit of music, history, and diversity One Sound and Entertainment complimented all the other talent in attendance. Over 25, 000 people attended the festival, surely making the late great co-founder and former president Mrs. Rosalie Pazant proud.
